Looking Back, Looking ahead

Crossfit Women: Looking Back, Looking ahead.

I like this blog post because it asks us to take a look at what we have done the past year and celebrate those successes – today, this month, this year?  How often do we stop and really look at all the things we actually have accomplished? I don’t know about anyone else, but I am constantly looking ahead – what do I have to still get done, what else needs to be tended to, and what’s the next hurdle or goal to acheive. I hope today or tomorrow, you can just stop and think about all the great things you have done this past year and realize how important they are — life is not a short trip, but a long journey right??

What accomplishment are you most proud of from the past year?

Answering this for myself:

I have a few:

1. I gave up Diet Coke! I can’t remember the last time I had soda and for those that really know me – that is quite a feat!

2. I have improved my running and have done 2 5ks the last part of the year this year.

3. I have had more fun in my life!

What are yours? Even if you don’t want to post any, make sure you take some time to remind yourself of all the goals you have met. Good Job.

The Box Block

2

An update: We have had 2 Plumbline members overcome the box now. Cheryl aka Jersey and Maryann aka Maryanna ! These ladies inspire me regularly with their strength and determination!

Here’s the actual pic of Maryann nailing the 30in box – taken by Plumbline Training!

Today I had a mental block doing plyo-box jumps. When I first started doing bootcamp, I couldn’t jump the 24in box, jump_box_set_of_6then I worked up from stepping to jumping on it with no issue. A few weeks ago, I jumped on the next higher box – i think its the 26in box in group training during the PT station — one max box jump. Definitely easier than I thought. Today, MT told me to try the 30in box. Please Note: I am 63in in height. And this morning, I encountered a mental block. Every time I tried to get psyched up to jump on it, I just couldn’t. Something in my head stopped me: a mental block.

I found someone else’s blog entry about mental blocks with jumping on the boxes:

I was afraid to jump onto the 33inch plyo box, I kept thinking I was going to eat sh*t. BUT I was so damn determined to figure out how to overcome my FEAR. So, I got a 45lb plate and stood on it and UP! jumped onto the stupid box, then down to a thinner plate and again UP onto the box and then an even thinner plate…finally it was seeming more of a mental block I could dismiss…and so, finally I just went for it…stood in front of the box and up and away…UP…BAM! DID IT! pheeew…one more FEAR GONE!
Have you had success breaking through a mental block? How about exercise related? How did you do it? I keep thinking about this season’s Biggest Loser episode and that one lady who had the mental block about box jumps in general. It really is super frustrating… I will try again next week to break the block!   The Box Block…
