Teen Fitness – 5 Tips For Helping Busy Teens Stay Physically Active

It’s no secret to anyone that childhood obesity is at an all time high and for some it reaches well into the teen years. Here are some good tips to get teens active.

‘Too fat to be a princess?’ Young girls worry about body image, study shows.

How sad is this? And what does it say about us in general. Even before they start school, many young girls worry that they are fat. But a new study suggests watching a movie starring a stereotypically thin and beautiful princess may not increase children’s anxieties. …Nearly half of the 3- to 6-year-old girls in a study by University of Central Florida … said they worry about being fat. About one-third would change a physical attribute, such as their weight or hair color. They are talking about 3 to 6 year olds!! Can you imagine?!!  But that watching princesses who are thin doesn’t necessarily increase their anxiety about it, but what about seeing those movies on top of seeing magazine and tv images on top of their parents’ own anxieties which are most definitely influenced by all of the above…

The women of Plumbline Training are amazing. There is something about the 545a women that just clicks. We are all supportive and make it really fun to show up that freakin early. I seriously think if it weren’t for the women, many of the bootcamp ladies would have dropped out.

Having a support system in this journey has personally made a difference in my life. Not only do I have people that hold me accountable for being fit and showing up – which is half the battle – I have made the most amazing friends.

We decided to get together and celebrate the holidays. And as much fun as we have at boot camp, so many of us don’t get to actually spend a lot of time getting to know each other. So we had a Plumbline Ladies Social Group Holiday Potluck – PLSG!. We had a great turnout and yes, we had actual food and drinks!!

MT even stopped by to share in our fun for a bit.

Here’s just a small sampling of the pictures I took:

So many people tell me how they are inspired by my dedication to my workouts and living a fit and healthy life. But you know what? There are 20 other ladies just like me who get up at that ungodly hour and commit to leading this life. They inspire me. My inspirations include a judge, professionals in all areas of business, Docters, Lawyers, Teachers, and Stay at home Moms. We are all just like everyone else – which is what I like to drive home to anyone that talks to me about it – amazing, interesting, busy women.

IMG00405 It’s probably about 8 inches already and the heavier stuff is on the way today sometime.

I will be shoveling as my workout today. The gym is closed but I have to do something active today especially with the potlucks I attended yesterday.
What are you going to do active today?
