Levin Is Sorry for Creating AOL Time Warner – DealBook Blog – NYTimes.com

Mr. Levin said he had been reflecting on the disastrous merger and cited a piece in The New York Times on Sandy Weill, the former chief executive of Citigroup who built in the bank into a behemoth only to watch it nearly collapse. While Mr. Weill told The Times he felt “incredibly sad” and acknowledged some of his own mistakes for the Citi debacle, he was also quick to blame his former co-C.E.O., John Reed, and his successor, Charles Prince.

However, Mr. Levin said he felt it was important for business leaders to take responsibility for their mistakes. “I’m not going to blame any predecessors or successors; I helped pick them and I have great respect for them,” Mr. Levin said, asking: “Where is the stand-up leadership that’s going to take responsibility for what’s happened and do something about it?”

Obviously my family was affected greatly by this merger personally and professionally in so many ways, I do appreciate that he has publicly acknowledged his responsiblity. It doesn’t change things or make it better – but if more leaders would actually step up it may impact future leaders behaviors and decisions.

(CNN) — One lucky boy in Canada can say without a doubt that he has his own personal guardian angel — not of the spiritual kind, but of the furry.

On Saturday an 18-month old golden retriever saved her owner from being attacked by a cougar while in the backyard of their home in Boston Bar, British Columbia, about 130 miles north of Vancouver.

I was thinking about all the new year’s resolutions people make and how the gyms are chock full of people. My co-worker A was telling me this morning that she got up to go to the gym and ended up coming home once she got there because she couldn’t find a parking spot. Can you imagine? Actually getting up in the early morning to get to the gym and not being able to accomplish the goal at hand? Yikes!

Then I read an interesting blog entry from Fit Bottom Girls and this really resonated with me:

Get Serious.  …but if you’re not serious about losing weight or getting healthy, it’ll be darn near impossible for you to achieve your goals. You deserve to put yourself first! So do what you need to do to make it happen.

All of the people heading to the gym need to sit down and really commit to living a new life. If they don’t -they will see the same outcome as last year which was resolution FAIL. I am rooting for all those that start out on this journey – but am not going to be one of those supporters that sugar coat things. It’s hard and there are times when you want to give up or life circumstances lead you to an easy out and it’s a constant battle – its a constant re commitment

If you travel a lot you can do pushups, triceps off a chair, squats, lunges , lots of ab work. You can also invest in some Exercise bands. They come in a variety of resistances, depending on skill level, and they can be used to perform a bicep curl, a squat, a shoulder press and a variety of other exercises. These bands can be easily packed in your travel cases and used no matter what hotel you are in.

Back in one of my Nov Posts – I had info on Mike Heatlie who trains Gwen Stefani. He said that if you have limited time to workout, get the most bang for your buck and focus on this:

I would do one exercise, either squats, deadlifts, chin-ups, pull-ups or dips. That would be an awesome workout! Do ten sets of ten, and that would be better than the majority of workouts lasting more than an hour!

So, there you have it. There are a ton of options. Heck, just go for a walk – the goal is to live a healthy and fit life. You don’t have to go full speed, just learn to incorporate a healthier approach towards your life and if you can commit to that, then you are on your way.

Tuesday workout:

warm up:

checkpoints, lunges, frankensteins, push-ups
core: partner 14lb dynaball tosses, and then ball twists
25 head to head partner double high five partner push-ups.

workout: AMRepsAP  for 3 rounds

bicep curls
135# deadlifts
TGUs 20lbs
hangclean push presses 25Lbs
25lb kettlebell swings

extra round for time:

40  bicep curls
10 135# deadlifts
2 each side -TGUs 20lbs
40 hangclean push presses 25Lbs
40 25lb kettlebell swings

We had a bit of a waiting game on the last timed round. I had to wait around for equipment which affected my time.  MT said it was me affecting my time but I give at least 10-20 seconds of blame to the equipment wait.

I do have to mention that mental game is so friggin important. Doing deadlifts – you have to mentally focus. I kept thinking about how last summer I did deadlifts and my back was hurting – so I would think about that and that would delay me picking up the barbell. I had to continually remind myself to focus on the task at hand. Also, hang clean push presses are just hard. They kick my ass every time I do them.
