A Crossfit Gym is coming to Reston with a scheduled opening date of GRAND OPENING – FEBRUARY 27th, 2010. Crossfit is very similar to the boot camp style that I do -High Intensity Training. Although Plumbline Training does not attribute its style to crossfit, I have personally found many similarities to it and the sample class I have done at the Dulles based MMA/Crossfit gym reminded me a lot of what I do currently with Michael. Crossfit also offers pretty comprehensive nutrition consultations/guidance too which Plumbline currently does not.
For those that don’t know what Crossfit is:
CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.
Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.
The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.
Crossfit Reston
We are a Crossfit-dedicated gym located in Reston/Herndon, Virginia. We provide a high-intensity core strength and conditioning program that focuses on all ten components of optimal physical fitness: endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy.
If you live close to this Reston/Herndon location, I personally recommend you give it a try. They have a free sample class on Saturdays at 930a. Free means no excuses!
If you aren’t in the DC area, or this location isn’t convenient, check out crossfit.com, which can help you locate a gym in your area. If you can’t find a crossfit gym in your area, you can still do Crossfit. They give you a WOD (workout of the day) free on their site. I know a few people who do that daily and that works great too. The key is to get movin!
