Denial on display
3Watch Part 1, 2 and 3 of Carnie Wilson on the Dr Oz show. She really is the “queen of all excuses”. She knows it and it’s is so evident when she is talking. She wants you to believe that She’s so busy. She has no help. She doesn’t like the tone of the person trying to help her. Weight loss and changing your life ain’t easy and no one is going to treat you with kid gloves anymore, Carnie. Grow up. You have the best doctor’s in the world trying to help you and you are fighting every step of the way. We are all busy, we all have other things to do. She is pre diabetic and is still finding excuses. Go out for a damn walk – no one is asking you to move mountains…
I appreciate that Dr Oz is calling her on it. It’s not a game and he knows it. She is after all “killing” herself slowly.
Healthy Dinner Recipes
1
Steph’s Chicken Quesadillas is a very popular dish at the Hoaglund house. Both my kids give it a thumbs up which is a very rare rating for them. I also like this because its quick, healthy and it’s not complicated!
a bunch of chopped up cooked chicken breast – you can even use the frozen grilled chicken strips and reheat in the microwave if you are short on time!
chopped green onions
chopped up spinach
chopped fresh cilantro
Reduced-fat cheddar cheese or slices of reduced fat sharp cheddar
flour tortillas – you could use whole wheat or I have even used spinach and garlic tortillas but the color tends to throw the kids off.
Spray olive oil on your pan, put the tortilla in the pan, fill it with the items above, and fold over and cook on each side until the tortilla browns and the cheese is melted. Repeat for all the quesadillas you need. Cut them into small triangles and serve with salsa!
Here are some recent recipes I found that look pretty good! Share some of your own healthy, family friendly recipes if you want! I would love to have more ideas…

Monday Blues
4I’ve got a serious case of Monday blues people. I woke up this morning not wanting to go workout – but as usual, there are no excuses so I got up and headed out.
I have a real serious mental case when it comes to the scale. In my entire adult life, I have never owned one nor had the desire to own one. I know I give a lot of power to those numbers so I prefer to live in the dark and go by how I actually feel and then add in how my clothes fit. I have a number that I want to be in my head and if I am not at the number, I seriously obsess. It’s not healthy — but as I have said before — you don’t change overnight. So Michael forces us to weigh in or he charges us $$. I personally would be happy not weighing in at all. I am trying to live by how I feel rather than a number on the scale. So today I was up 2lbs and I allowed it to throw off my entire workout. I kept obsessing about it, thinking about it, thinking about the slippery slope I am on.
A rational person would think – maybe it’s a normal fluctuation, maybe it’s all the salt you ate yesterday, maybe it’s that time of the month, or maybe it’s because you need to get back on the train and really watch what you eat. But as I said above, I am not rational when it comes to the scale and my weight. A thousand people can tell me – relax, it’s ok, its normal, it happens to me… but it doesn’t change what I am feeling about it today. I feel like I am failing, like I am letting myself down, that I am fat, that I am losing steam. I am in a funk this morning…as you can probably tell. You have peaks and valleys in any worthwhile journey – even the most committed ones do apparently.
