CrossFit Games: Key Takeaway

Having CrossFit Games fever all weekend really helped push me during my workout this morning. It really is awesome to be a part of this type of community. I am thankful every day for what it has enabled me to do – physically and mentally.

There was a lot of talk this morning about the sledgehammer event at yesterday’s CF Games. It was a good classic event and the discussion led to talking about ways to incorporate more hip rotation work at our gym. We do lots of front and back hip moving, but not a lot of side to side movement. That movement is part of being able to move in general — functional fitness.  I’m going to do some research on what we can do to incorporate more of that movement in workouts — we need Sledgehammers!!

I also have to make sure to give a shout out to my friend Lidia. I have written about her before and she never ceases to amaze me. She did awesome at the Masters CrossFit Games. She came in fourth in her Masters Women 55-59 Division. That’s FOURTH people. Take a look at the workouts she had to do — and you will realize that she can probably finish faster than most of the young fire-breathers out there.

I just can’t say enough about this inspiring woman. She is tough but yet caring and just like many of us, has had her struggles with her weight and life in general.  Go re-read the profile I did on Lidia – No Limits.
