Your Children Want YOU!
via Your Children Want YOU! | The Power of Moms.
There’s something deeper going on in family life than can ever be expressed on a social network. Whatever it is we feel we are lacking, can we collectively decide–as deliberate mothers–that we are not going to sit around feeling discouraged about all the things we’re not?
Can we remind each other that it is our uniqueness and love that our children long for? It is our voices. Our smiles. Our jiggly tummies. Of course we want to learn, improve, exercise, cook better, make our homes lovelier, and provide beautiful experiences for our children, but at the end of the day, our children don’t want a discouraged, stressed-out mom who is wishing she were someone else.
If you ever find yourself looking in the mirror at a woman who feels badly that she hasn’t yet made flower-shaped soap,
Twitter — A New Kind of Mood Ring
0Using Twitter to track people’s moods
An analysis of two years of tweets concludes, among other things, that people wake up happy but get grumpier as the day progresses.
There’s a lot you can read about on Twitter — including, it now appears, the patterns of human moods.
After analyzing two years’ worth of tweets by 2.4 million people around the world, researchers at Cornell Universityhave concluded that individuals wake up happy but that their mood deteriorates as the day progresses.
That discovery, among others reported Thursday in the journal Science, will interest researchers who are trying to understand how circadian rhythms and other natural influences shape our states of mind. But the study’s primary significance may have more to do with its methods than its results.
“We now have the ability to view societies at a massive scale using the Internet,” said study leader Scott Golder, a graduate student in sociology at Cornell. “This will open up opportunities for social scientists.”
Golder said he intended to use Twitter to study behavior, not emotion. He and a fellow graduate student wrote a computer program that sampled all Twitter user accounts created between February 2008 and April 2009, collecting up to 400 messages from each account.
Rest Days are Important
0It’s another rainy day in the DC metro area — we have had the craziest weather this year, sure makes you wonder.
I am taking an extra rest day this week. Last week during one of my workouts, I realized my body was more tired and sore than usual. I just need to give my body a break and take a day off this week. Let’s see how well it works.
Be the change you wish to see in the world
0Did I have a better day yesterday? Yes and No. I am processing some things that have happened this week and have come to the conclusion that I can’t continue to deal with it the way I have been. I need to respond and react differently this time – If I don’t, it will definitely continue to happen and it’s just not right. It’s time to take the bull by the horns and deal with a certain situation that I have been tolerating for some time. Be the change you wish to see in the world —-
