Girl Scout Walk Together 3m hike

0

What a gorgeous day yesterday was for the Girl Scout Walk Together 3 mile hike. The scenery was beautiful and I loved hanging out with Ms Bea -chatting away and exercising! Perfect way to spend a day together. I really enjoy hearing her perspective on whats going on in her life, friends, and health. I am so proud of how smart and intuitive she is –she’s a great little girl.

I had no idea this Nature Preserve was even there, so that was a bonus.  I am definitely coming back here with the rest of the family. Lots of family friend hiking and nature to be found.

Today I am heading to the Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve for a Girl Scout Walk Together with Hannah Bea today for a 3 mile nature hike. Its a crisp fall day and anyone that knows about No VA knows its one of the most beautiful times of the year for this area — with the fall leaves changing colors. I hope to get some great shots of it all!

Get moving: Cancer survivors urged to exercise

No surprise here! Exercise helps people in so many ways – mentally & physically.  And can help the recovery of cancer survivors! Read the last paragraph of this quote: You don’t have to be Lance Armstrong or even go to a 545a boot camp! Go for a walk, play a game of tag with the kids – it does not have to be complicated it just has to be active!

Cancer survivors, better work up a sweat.

New guidelines are urging survivors to exercise more, even — hard as it may sound — those who haven’t yet finished their treatment.

There’s growing evidence that physical activity improves quality of life and eases some cancer-related fatigue. More, it can help fend off a serious decline in physical function that can last long after therapy is finished.

“You don’t have to be Lance Armstrong,” stresses Dr. Julia Rowland of the National Cancer Institute, speaking from a survivorship meeting this month that highlighted exercise research. “Walk the dog, play a little golf.”
